Keep your RQFashion pieces looking their best. Follow these guidelines for washing, drying, storing, and preserving the quiet-luxury fabrics in your wardrobe.

General Washing Guide

The right wash routine protects the natural fibres and construction that make investment pieces last. These four rules are the foundation of caring for every item in your RQFashion wardrobe.

Water Temperature

Use cold or lukewarm water, never exceeding 30–40°C. Hot water causes natural fibres to shrink, felt, or lose their shape.

Detergent

Choose a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid bleach, enzyme-heavy formulas, and fabric softeners on wool, silk, and linen.

Gentle Wash

Machine wash on a delicate or wool cycle, or hand wash with minimal agitation. Do not scrub, twist, or wring delicate garments.

Timely Cleaning

Treat stains immediately. Blot—never rub—with a clean, damp cloth to lift the stain before it sets into the fibre.

Cashmere

Hand wash cold with a specialist cashmere or wool wash. Press out water gently, then lay flat on a dry towel to reshape. Never hang wet cashmere. Store folded with cedar blocks or lavender sachets.

Merino Wool

Turn inside out and machine wash on a wool cycle with cold water if the care label allows. Otherwise, hand wash. Lay flat to dry. Dry clean structured merino pieces.

Lambswool

Wash cool by hand or on a delicate wool cycle. Avoid heavy spinning. Dry flat away from direct heat. Fold and store in a breathable bag to protect from moths.

Mulberry Silk

Hand wash cold with a silk-specific or pH-neutral detergent, or dry clean. Dry flat in shade. Iron on the lowest setting while slightly damp, inside out. Avoid direct steam.

Belgian Linen

Machine wash gentle at 30–40°C with a mild detergent. Remove promptly and hang or tumble dry on low while still slightly damp. Iron while damp for the crispest finish.

Long-staple Cotton

Machine wash cool to warm with like colours. Turn inside out to preserve colour. Tumble dry on low or line dry. Iron on a medium to high setting.

TENCEL™ / Lyocell

Machine wash gentle in cold water. Line dry where possible, or tumble dry on low. Iron on a low setting while slightly damp. Avoid high spin speeds that can distort the fibre.

Wool & Silk Blends

Always follow the care instructions of the most delicate fibre in the blend. When in doubt, hand wash cold, dry flat, and use a pressing cloth for ironing.

Always check the garment care label first. These guidelines are a general reference; the label on each piece reflects its specific fibre content, construction, and finish.

Storage & Longevity

  • Wash less, air more. Natural fibres are odour-resistant and self-regulating. Hang pieces in a well-ventilated area between wears.
  • Fold knits, never hang them. Gravity stretches wool and cashmere fibres when wet or even dry over time.
  • Use breathable cotton storage bags. Plastic traps moisture and encourages mildew on natural fibres.
  • Protect against moths. Clean garments before storing, then add cedar blocks or lavender sachets to repel pests.
  • Steam to refresh. A light steam removes wrinkles and refreshes fibres more safely than heavy ironing.
  • De-pill gently. Use a cashmere comb or fabric shaver to remove pills; never pull them by hand.
